John Piper 10.0 Seeking and Savoring Jesus Christ

Here is a Daily Devotional that I read during Seek Week at California Baptist University. I feel this book was a way for me to grow deeper in my Faith walk with Christ. John Piper is a Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church (Minneapolis, MN) he is an Outstanding writer and I feel that this book will help enhance your faith walk with Christ.

Defining the Real Jesus Christ
John Piper is a well known Best- Selling Author of The Passion of Jesus Christ has just written a daily devotional called Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ. Piper opens up the book with a word to the Reader, asking you the reader this question Who was Jesus Christ? Giving you the reader time to ponder this question all the while your reading the book, the question is forever lingering in the back of your mind. As you begin to read the devotional you begin a spiritual journey through thirteen chapters of spiritual guidance starting with Chapter one which is Seeing and Savoring the Glory of God The Ultimate Aim of Jesus Christ and ending with Chapter Thirteen The Appearing of the Glory of Our Great God and Savior The Second Coming of Jesus Christ, as you are journeying with Piper you are compelled to STOP at times to relish in the moments and sometimes ponder question that arise in ones mind. For example this chapter 6 which is entitled Something Greater Than Solomon Is Here: The Wisdom of Jesus Christ open up with Piper quoting two scripture’s from John one of them is from John 21:17 “ Lord you know everything.” And the second scripture is John 13: 19 which states, “I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he.” Then Piper explains and goes into great detail of chapter 6 like when Piper opens up in the chapter with expressive words about Jesus saying, “Many who have set out to silence Jesus have said in the end, “No one ever spoke like the man!” (John 7:46). One reason is the incomparable wisdom and knowledge of Jesus. Poignant words spoken by Piper as you begin to read throughout the rest of chapter 6 he breaks down Jesus wisdom and knowledge and Piper closes chapter 6 with this scripture reference in Colossians 2:3 “Admire him. Follow him. For “in [him] are hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” Giving you the reader a chance to think, ponder and relish in what Jesus wants us to realize and that is if we put are TRUST in him meaning God we will have GREAT treasures are Father will give us. You find yourself even questioning Jesus Christ whole Servant ship or why did Jesus do all of this, Yes these maybe some of the question that may arise and possibly many more but after you finish reading the book all of the question you have are answered and you have a deeper, fulfilled stronger relationship with Christ. I believe Piper awakens you up to realize what Jesus is all about. Piper mentioned in his book, “Therefore, what I have tried to do in this book is to put the biblical portrait of Jesus on display.” And that Piper did I believe Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ is an EXCELLENT! daily devotional to read to strengthen your walk with Christ.
